Falls can result in critical injury for older adults and homes may not always be safe. Below are some tips to reduce the risk of accidental fall.
Keep walking areas clear
Any type of clutter or obstacle is dangerous for adults. Even electrical wire or furniture that could get in the way of walking must be removed from their walking areas.
Proper lighting
Human eyesight is known to decrease as we grow older. For some senior’s areas in the home that are not brightly lit are dangerous. Installing a sufficient amount of lighting in areas like hallways, staircase, and bathroom can prevent accidental trips.
Regular exercise
Exercise helps seniors maintain their balance and coordination. You can motivate your loved ones to start exercises like walking or chair exercises which can strengthen their posture and legs.
